I'm Lauren M. Perry

I obtained a  Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre Arts and Business Administration from Loyola University in 2012. Upon graduation, I followed my grandmother’s and mom’s footsteps and started a career in the beauty industry, as a production makeup artist. However, at the height of that career God blessed me with the opportunity to gain leadership of The Beautiful Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides a safe space for adolescent girls to learn and express themselves. I inherited the position of executive director in the beginning of 2015 thus beginning the “official” start of my human services journey.

I feel accomplished to have had a hand in rebuilding a sustainable organization ultimately, empowering nearly 300 girls and securing over $300,000 through grants, contracts, donations and fundraisers. I love being a cousin, a god-mommy and all things family, travel and community related. Though serious and composed on the outside I am a true cornball and I believe that love has the power to transform and heal all things. I am learning that  life is a mystery to be lived rather than a problem to be solved. The more that I lean into that understanding the easier it has become to navigate through the peaks and valleys presented in my daily walk of  life. Though I love the work that I do I am diligent in maintaining an equally fulfilling spiritual, physical, mental and emotional hygiene practice. The work that we do should never over power the quality of life that we desire to live.  We can not be a light unto others if we are barely lit.
